The
Many Benefits of The Florida Comfort System
Humidity Control
High humidity can make you miserable. But Trane has the answer with the
Florida Comfort System. It can remove up to 15 gallons of water a day
from the average home. That's up to four times more than a conventional
system.
The ComfortR Difference
The Florida Comfort System comes equipped with the exclusive Trane Variable
Speed Air Handler. It has a patented computerized controller called ComfortR.
Because of this feature, no other variable speed unit can achieve Trane's
humidity control capacity.
Trane Durability
A survey of thousands of homeowners by a leading consumer publication
revealed that Trane units needed fewer repairs than any other brand. Which
proves again why we say: "It's Hard To Stop A Trane."
Energy Efficiency
The Florida Comfort System not only gives you incomparable comfort, it
also saves you money. In fact, the combination of the XL 1400 and the
Variable Speed Air Handler may save you up to 60% on current heating and
cooling bills.
Quiet Operation
The Florida Comfort System is quieter. That's because it generally runs
at much lower speeds. So you don't hear that "thunk" when it cycles.
Cleaner Air
Slower operating, variable speeds means more airborne pollutants have
time to cling to and be trapped by the air filter. This allows cleaner
air to flow into your home.

In three cooling
seasons a Trane Variable Speed Air Handler can remove enough moisture
from your indoor air to fill a swimming pool. |
The Florida
Comfort System
In Florida, air conditioners have a full-time job. Cooling is typically
needed year-round, and units also need to extract moisture from a high
humidity environment. Plus, proven reliability and durability are essential.
With these criteria in mind, Trane offers the exclusive Florida Comfort
System - a system ideally suited to this area. The Florida Comfort System
combines two crucial elements: the exclusive Trane Variable Speed
Air Handler and the super efficient XL outdoor unit.
The Heart of the System
Take a peek inside your air handler and you'll find the electric motor
that's responsible for running the indoor blower. Most systems are standard,
and that means the motor runs at only one speed and is either on or off.
Anytime the blower is on it's running at full capacity, using the maximum
amount of energy.
Trane's variable speed motor, however, is smarter than the average motor.
It automatically varies its speed, while meeting your home's heating and
cooling requirements.
That's the beauty of the Florida Comfort System. Because its Variable
Speed Air Handler, matched with the Trane XL Unit, gives you a level of
comfort you've never before experienced and saves you money in the process.
Four Times Greater Humidity Removal
You know how miserable humidity can make you. Well, with a variable speed
air handler you can reduce the humidity in your home, giving you and your
family a more comfortable environment.
In fact, you'd probably be amazed to find out just how much moisture is
in your home. Consider this: a Trane Variable Speed Air Handler
can remove up to 15 gallons of water a day from the average house. That's
up to four times the amount of moisture that a conventional air handler
removes.
The Sound of Silence
And here's something else about a variable speed air handler - there's
less noise. That's because most of the time it's running at a lower speed.
You also won't hear a thunking sound when it comes on.
A variable speed air handler ramps up to maximum speed slowly instead
of coming full-on at once. This means there are no sudden bursts or blasts,
insuring more even airflow.

Trane's unique ComfortR feature provides improved dehumidification
in cooling startup. This is accomplished by running the fan at slower
speed during startup. A simple change to the blower control settings
provides the enhanced comfort. Conventional units are only fully on
or fully off, providing little time for extra dehumidification. Trane
runs at 100% speed only when required. |
Like a Breath of Fresh Air
There's nothing quite like the quality of air you get with a Trane Variable
Speed Air Handler. A variable speed air handler operates at slower fan
speeds. This means more unwanted particles cling to the filter, flowing
cleaner air into your home.
In a conventional single speed air handler, air is pulled through the
filter at a consistently high rate of speed. This lessens the filter's
ability to collect dust and allergens.
Comfort That Will Save You Money
Now here's a variable speed advantage that you can't afford to live without.
A Trane Variable Speed Air Handler actually costs less to operate than
a standard air handler. In fact, 40 percent less. More comfort for less
money? What are you waiting for!

A Trane variable
speed air handler has 8 dip switches allowing your dealer to select
from 12 levels of air flow. |
Experience
the ComfortR Difference
Trane's exclusive ComfortR feature represents the ultimate in comfort.
Most standard air handlers have only three fan speeds. But with Trane
there are 12 different CFM (cubic feet per minute) settings, meaning greater
airflow flexibility and an enhanced level of comfort. Your Trane dealer
will determine the appropriate setting based on the airflow requirements
of your home. Once your specific comfort zone has been established, your
home's temperature will vary much less than a standard system.
The ComfortR feature gives you even greater humidity control. In
this mode, air moves over the coil more slowly at startup. This allows
the coil to rapidly cool down resulting in increased moisture removal.
The ComfortR feature also gives you a warmer air startup in heating
with a heat pump.
These managed cycles of activity allow us to keep temperature variances
within the boundaries of your comfort zone. Imagine the difference ComfortR
could make in your home.

Your present system more than likely swings 3 to 5 degrees before it goes
on or off. With a variable speed air handler, those days are long gone.
The ComfortR enhanced mode allows your home to stay within the boundaries
of your comfort zone.
