Phystar provides
independent physicians, or physician groups, with a venue to maintain
their independence and to thrive in a managed care marketplace.
Phystar seeks to be responsive to its Physician members and with
a focus on representing the Physician's interest in every undertaking.
Phystar is committed to upholding these principals and to serving
as the Physician's advocate.
The resources
of Phystar are made available to all member IPAs. IPAs may become
a member of Phystar by the vote of the membership and purchase of
Class A and Class B stock.
The dues for
primary care physicians are $100 per month, and $300 for specialists.
Phystar's economies of scale savings help offset or in many cases
more than pay for the amount of monthly dues. These savings are
made available through discounts in malpractice, group health, officers
& directors' liability, premises liability, and disability insurance.
Also, we receive group discounts with purchasing agreements for
medical and office supplies, furniture, uniforms, transcriptions,
etc. Other benefits of Phystar membership is access to the Medicode
MDR information for evaluation and managed care contracting, and
cost accounting analysis by CPT code. Phystar also has an active
manager network for education and information exchange.
The Board of
Directors of Phystar is made up of representatives from each local
IPA, with a balance of primary care and specialist. Each local IPA
Director attends all board meetings with their physician representative.
