Fluoride
|
| Why is fluoride so important? | |
| Fluoride is a critical ingredient in the formation of | |
| healthy teeth. It integrates into the enamel of | |
| developing teeth and helps resist cavities. | |
| Should I supplement? | |
| We can advise you. Children who receive fluoride via | |
| their water or use fluoride toothpaste or mouth rinses | |
| may not need a supplement. However, a baby being | |
| nursed exclusively, or given formula mixed with | |
| non-fluorinated water, may need a supplement. | |
| How much is enough? |
| Unlimited and in excessively high doses, fluoride can cause tooth discoloration |
| known as dental fluorosis. If a supplement is required, your dentist or doctor should |
| help you determine the proper amount that will give your child the benefits of |
| flouride protection without the risk of discoloration. |

Snoring
|
![]() |
|
| Why do I snore? | ||
| As you sleep, your tongue and the muscles and tissues | ||
| surrounding your airway relax and reduce the size of its | ||
| opening. As you breathe, these tissues vibrate, | ||
| sometimes at almost deafening levels! | ||
| How can I stop? | ||
| Excess weight, alcohol consumption, or taking | ||
| sedatives can cause snoring. Medical treatment may | ||
| involve the use of an air pressure machine or surgery | ||
| to remove excess tissue, with a success rate of less | ||
| than 50%. That's why we recommend a much less | ||
| intrusive method: snoring appliances. |
| What are they? |
| Snoring appliances are worn in the mouth at night, much like retainers. They gently reposition your jaws to optimize the size of your airway while sleeping. With proper case evaluation, snoring appliances can be effective 90% of the time. |
