Boca’s Oldest Family Owned Audiology / Hearing Aid Centers

Sondra and Mel Sorkowitz have been helping the hearing impaired since their marriage in 1963.  Sondra received her Bachelor’s Degree from the George Washington University, and Mel obtained his Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin where he was a Vocational Rehabilitation Scholarship Recipient.  Subsequent to his graduation, he attended Louisiana State University and Temple University for doctoral studies in Audiology. Mel completed his Doctorate in 2003.

In January of 1967, Mel originated the Audiology Program at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia where he was director, and frequent lecturer and instructor to various medical groups, including the Academy of Otologists.

Sondra and Mel started Audiological Consultants Inc. of Pennsylvania in 1969 and within several years had seven offices serving the hearing impaired in the Greater Philadelphia area.

In 1978, Sondra and Mel moved with their two daughters to Colorado where they purchased a hearing aid manufacturing company.  They manufactured hearing instruments in Colorado and Southern California until the fall of 1984, when they decided that their manufacturing knowledge made them more capable to perform as clinicians in helping the hearing impaired.

Sondra and Mel have been practicing in the Boca Raton area since 1984 and have two beautiful, well-equipped offices in East and West Boca.  In 1996 their daughter, Elissa Sorkowitz Lejeune, joined the center.  She is in charge of home service programs.

Sondra has completed her graduate studies in Elder Care Management at Lynn University and is a frequent lecturer for Caregivers workshops.
