Adoption
Placement, Inc. is a licensed child placing agency
in operation since 1992. The agency was founded by Susan
Lopez, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Mary Ann
Scherer, an adoption attorney. Adoption Placement, Inc.
is run by a board of directors who are comprised of adoptive
parents and professionals in the community, and who are
advocates for children and families.

About
Charitable Contributions
Adoption Placement, Inc. welcomes your donations. Working
relationships have been established in other countries
to provide needed items to children residing in orphanages.
Funds are also used to assist in special needs adoption,
for counseling and care of birth mothers and children
needing services. Any donations made to the agency are
fully deductible to the donor under federal guidelines
of non-profit agencies registered as 501(c)(3) corporations.
We encourage and appreciate your kind assistance in this
mission.

Susan
Lopez, M.S.W.,
L.C.S.W. - Susan is the Director of Adoption Placement,
Inc. and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has
worked in the area of adoptions for over fifteen years.
Susan is a dedicated and caring professional who is committed
to her work with children and families.

Mary
Ann Scherer, R.N.,
J.D. -
Mary Ann is a Marital and Family Law Attorney with an
emphasis on adoptive placement for over eighteen years.
She is a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys.
She is also a Registered nurse and brings her caring style
to those she serves in the agency.

Ava
Thompson, M.S.W. , L.C.S.W. - Ava is a licensed
Clinical Social Worker and is our international Coordinator.
She assists families with the entire process enabling
them to adopt children of all ages, abroad. This includes
assistance in the Dossier preparation with the adoptive
family. Ava is also an adoptive parent and is sensitive
to many of the issues that adoptive parents may be experiencing.

Adrienne
Rich, M.S.W.,
L,C.S.W.
- Adrienne is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She resides
in Miami, Florida and has the ability to complete Home
Studies, post-placement supervision, and birth parent
interviews. She also conducts adoptive parenting classes.

Nohora
Mayorga, B.S.W.
-- Nohora is one of the social workers assisting adoptive
families with the completion of their home studies. Nohora
has had extensive counseling with families. She is a very
warm and friendly person who is supportive of all our
families.

Kerri
Hixson, B.S.,
is one of our birth parent counselors. Kerri is an understanding
and sensitive person. In addition to working with birth
parents, Kerri also completes many of our home studies
for domestic and international placements.

Linda
Good -- Linda is our office manager. She is responsible
for the overall day to day office matters. She is a caring
and friendly person who is available to answer any questions.

Lisa
Schofield -- Lisa is one of the secretaries of the agency.
She is personable and energetic. Lisa maintains the agency
files to ensure proper compliance.

Patty
Zorovich, B.A.
-- Patty is our adoptive parenting class instructor. As
well as being an adoptive parent herself, she provides
support and counseling with families waiting for adoptive
placement.

Adoption
Placement, Inc. (API) is a licensed, not-for-profit
adoption agency providing services to birth and adoptive
parents in reference to the placement of children for
adoption. The child placed in an adoptive home deserves
to be treated with respect at all times. The child will
be provided with a loving, safe and secure home environment
and be given the opportunity to learn and develop into
a responsible adult. Adoptive families shall parent their
child in a positive manner and any discipline will be
administered in such a way as to preserve the dignity
and well-being of the child. The goal of API is to provide
its services in such a manner that all questions will
be answered. Further, concerns and anxieties will be relieved
through application of the following policies:
1.Providing the assistance of competent trained professionals.
2.Treating all parties with dignity, courtesy, and respect.
3.Answering all questions dealing with the placement.
4.Providing the opportunity to make choices.
5.Being ever-mindful of minimizing financial loss.

Statement
of Purpose
Adoptive Placement, Inc. provides
a variety of services to assist families in the adoptive
process. We provide all services in a non-judgmental
fashion, totally free of prejudice or undue pressure.
The purpose of API is to assist birth parents in selecting
parents for their child. They are assisted in making
their own decision. We want them to feel good about
themselves and their choice. Birth Parents have made
the choice to give the child life. We offer them the
choice of placing their child with parents who can appreciate
this gift of life. API assists adoptive parents to obtain
the knowledge necessary to make an informed choice as
to a given situation. The staff will provide the professional
assistance necessary to perform the psychological and
sociological evaluation to determine suitability for
placement. Post-placement supervision shall also be
provided. All decisions as to acceptance for placement
will be made in a fair and non-judgmental fashion with
the goal at all times being what is best for the child.
However Adoption Placement, Inc. is mindful that Adoptive
Parents, too, have chosen to place their future in our
hands.
