In the interest of providing state-of-the-art healthcare, it is necessary to establish policies to avoid misunderstandings. Our primary goal is to provide quality healthcare to all of our patients, and we wish to spend our time and energy toward that end. Therefore, we wish to clarify the following policies about our practice.
Appointments are required for routine care. Urgent care appointments can usually be obtained the same day as a walk-in. Your patience and cooperation will be appreciated.
After-hours care is available for urgent problems by calling our answering service at 704-735-4445. They will either contact Dr. Marshall or the physician covering for him.
Our practice is dedicated to the total care of women of all ages, since OB/GYN is a primary care specialty. If we are unable to provide a necessary service, we shall refer you to another physician and continue to monitor and coordinate your care.
I am also responsible to keep myself healthy physically, spiritually, and mentally. When I am away, competent medical care is available by contacting the covering physician or by calling our office at 704-735-4445.
I am dedicated to conducting a practice free of sexual harassment. Any uncomfortable sexual comments or touching between staff and patient is unethical and will not be tolerated.
I have a responsibility to expose those physicians who are deficient in character, competence, and who engage in fraud and deception of the public.
I have a responsibility to suggest appropriate consultation when other specialized care is necessary.
I have a responsibility to provide a safe environment and to conduct examinations in such a way as to assure each patient's privacy and modesty as well as physical and emotional comfort.
I am free to choose, except in an emergency, whom to serve, with whom to associate and the environment in which to provide medical services.
Our fees are consistently reviewed and updated in line with the reasonable and customary ones set by the insurance companies. They are based on time spent, complexity of the problem, and the related work involved to provide the needed care.
Full payment at time of visit is required. This involves your co-pay, deductibles, and prior balances. Credit cards, checks, and cash are accepted.
Accounts that are greater than 60 days past due will be turned over to a collections agency, unless a payment plan has been initiated and is actively being followed. Please remember that your insurance coverage is your responsibility, not ours. We shall assist you, but we cannot intervene between you and your insurance company.
Even though you may have an insurance claim pending, you will receive a statement after 60 days for the outstanding balance of your account. We cannot accept responsibility for collecting an insurance claim or for negotiating a disputed claim (insurance reimbursement is a contract between you and your carrier. If after 60 days your insurance has not issued payment, we will expect payment in full from you within 15 days. You are responsible for our bills regardless of what your insurance pays).
All 60-day past due accounts will have an interest charge of 1.5% monthly (18% yearly) added until the balance is fully paid.
