What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are devices
that are inserted into or on the top of the bone of the upper
or lower jaw for support of dental prosthesis. Another type
of implant is used as a soft tissue attachment to stabilize
an upper denture. Implants are made from inorganic materials
that are biocompatible and are not rejected by the body. There
are implants that are designed to be used when there are some
of the natural teeth remaining and there are also implants
for the totally edentulous(toothless) patients. When implants
are used in conjunction with natural teeth they serve as additional
abutments(support) so the fixed bridges can be done rather
than the removable partial dentures. Implants for the edentulous
patient serves as a support or foundation so that a precision
denture or fixed bridge can be attached to it. If the prosthesis
is a denture the implants keeps it stable so it doesn't move
around and irritate the gums. Patients that have been treated
with implants and bridgework say it is like having their natural
teeth again. The success rate for implants is about 95%
according to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. I
have been doing implants successfully for 24 years.

Denture
Problems?
Lower
dentures cause problems because of slow, uncontrollable bone
loss and no anatomic suction capabilities. Stabilization and
rigid retention of the lower denture can now be accomplished
in one office visit, for many predictable years, using your
present dentures. No adhesives or additives are involved.
